“Sometimes the strength of motherhood is greater than natural laws.”
When you think “Mom,” it’s likely your brain conjures up a scent or a story or a song that feels like home.
For me it reminds me of the early summer scents that my mother and wife love so much. Every May the Sweetbay Magnolias in out yard start to bloom and fill our backyard patio with scents of lemon that they love. This time also reminds me of the times my mother and I spent in the yard planting flowers, trees and bushes.
When I was young, I much preferred the company of my friends to spending time gardening, but as I have grown older I find time working in the yard to be relaxing and rewarding. My Mother enjoys this change immensely . I never thought that would be the case 30 years ago.
We wish you a very Happy Mother’s Day!
“And from her great and humble position in the family she had taken dignity and a clean calm beauty. From her position as healer, her hands had grown sure and cool and quiet; from her position as arbiter she had become as remote and faultless in judgment as a goddess. She seemed to know that if she swayed the family shook, and if she ever really deeply wavered or despaired the family would fall, the family will to function would be gone.”
